The out of school care program is based within Richmond Road School grounds in school hall. Enrolment is finalised upon completion of an enrolment form and the signing of the attached contract. It is your responsibility to inform staff of any relevant changes to your contact details. It is crucial that we have up-to-date information at all times to ensure the safety of your child. All information is kept in confidence. WE ARE MOSD/CYF’s registered and assessed.
After school operates from 3:00pm to 6pm and before school from 7:00am to 9:00 every school day and from 8:00 to 6pm during holiday programs.
Children receive afternoon tea of a variety of sandwiches, or biscuits, smoothies, popcorn and a daily fruit platter and water. There is cereal and toast for breakfast and occasional cooked breakfast and either a hot chocolate or water. Please encourage children not to bring sweets or junk food to the program. ANY ALLEGIES MUST BE CLEARLY LISTED ON ENROLEMENT FORM.
For the safety of the children it is essential that parents/caregivers enrol their children before using the service, the enrolment form/parent contract is available to download from the school website www.richmondroad.school.nz or directly from me, on the above email. The program Policies and Procedures is available upon request. The program has a signing in and out procedure, with a role call and numbers check off against daily attendance form. Supervision ratios are relative to numbers attending 1:10 on site, 1:8 on outings & a minimum of 1:6 for water activities (dependent on water competency). Only persons authorized to collect the children can collect them, unless otherwise informed prior to collection.
Please see attached fee schedule for before and after school care and holiday programs. Fees must be paid weekly in the week of care – either by cash or internet banking.
Please notify me, on the above numbers, or leave a message at the school office (09) 376 1091, if your child is not attending within the usual times. Also please notify me before a session starts, that your child is attending either on a casual basis, or other than specified. The normal daily rate will be charged if I have not received notice of absence – at least 5 hours prior to the session beginning. Planned family holidays are to be notified to the supervisor 2 weeks prior to the holiday otherwise a 50% holding charge will apply.
We use behaviour management techniques that encourage positive self-esteem development. It is our goal to ensure that children and families experience an environment where they are safe, secure, respected and their dignity is protected. This is done through the use of positive reinforcement and a varied program. However, if a child’s behaviour is consistently harmful to the other children, parents will be asked to remove him/her from this program.
The program has a detailed child protection policy that includes the reporting of any suspected child abuse to the Department of Child, Youth and Family Services.
The program has an emergency procedure that is clearly displayed. In an emergency, children will be gathered in an allocated area (on the bottom court adjacent to the school hall) where an attendance role check will be made to ensure all children are accounted for.
Children who become sick during a session, parents will be informed immediately of their condition.
The program has a complaints procedure. If you have any problems please approach the manager or supervisor on duty.
Please see the supervisor if you wish to view our Policies and Procedures. It contains detailed information on health and safety, making complaints and other practices. I welcome all parents to read these.
Wherever possible the requests of parents will be incorporated in program planning and design.
I look forward to meeting you and your child, and please feel free to call me if you require any further information or just for a chat as new ideas are always welcome.
